Obituary of Louella Jean Edens
Louella Jean Edens, 86, of Terra Alta, WV passed away, at home, after a brave battle with cancer on Monday, September 23, 2024.
She was born on November 13, 1937, the daughter of the late William and Ruby (Fletcher) Kight.
Jean received her BS and MA from WVU in Elementary education and spent 35 years teaching first grade in Monongalia County Schools until she retired in 2003. She loved teaching children to read. Jean also loved to visit state parks to fish and have picnics. She loved decorating her home for Christmas, her favorite time of the year.
Jean was a member of the St. John Lutheran Church in Redhouse, MD.
She is survived by her husband of 48 years, Jerry Edens; one son and one daughter and spouses; Christopher and Pat Rice of Bruceton Mills and Erin and Brian Westerbeke of Boyton Beach FL; five grandchildren, Andrew Rice, Dale and Amanda Ridenour, Dane Ridenour, Brian and Abigail Galloway and Megan Galloway; four great-grandchildren, Emma and Thorin Rice and Abby and Jill Ridenour; one sister, Rhonda Pase and husband John; one brother, Michael Rawlings and wife Ayumi and 13 nephews and nieces.
Jean will be cremated and rest forever at the Red House Lutheran Church Cemetery. A memorial service will be held at St. John Lutheran Church 3301 Garrett Highway, Oakland, MD, on Saturday November 9, 2024 from 10:00 am until the 11:00 am time of service.
Anyone wishing to make a donation in her memory may do so by making the donation to St. John Lutheran Church, 3301 Garrett Highway, Oakland, MD 21550. Donations will be used for the revitalization of the church parsonage.
