In 1983 I joined the WVARNG at the 119th and he was my platoon sgt. always gave great advice and support. When working at Camp Dawson, he had moved to 229th and whenever I need something, he was glad to assist. He was the person who encouraged me to become a pilot. RIP to a great soldier. Both Carl and I have many fond memories of Alton from our high school years and also from the time we spent together in Morgantown at WVU. He was an intelligent and caring person who loved to share his broad knowledge of history to anyone willing to take the time to listen. He always had interesting facts and connections among people and local family trees to relate. May he rest in peace. We will miss him as will many people who knew him.
