Obituary of Melvin Elwood Moats

Melvin Elwood Moats, 84, of Terra Alta, died Thursday, January 2, 2020 at Preston Memorial Hospital, Kingwood. The son of the late Lester and Minnie Bell Camble Moats, he was born April, 1935 in Erwin, WV. Melvin adored children and he made a friend wherever he went. He is survived by two brothers, Wayne Moats of Clarksburg and Delmer Moats of Terra Alta; two sisters, Irma Kyle and Alta Dixon and husband Dave, all of Terra Alta; a sister-in-law, Jacqueline Moats of Terra Alta and several nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Lawrence Wesley and Everett Woodrow Moats and two sisters, Helen Virginia Moats and Marie Ellen Jones. Family and friends will be received at the Arthur H. Wright Funeral Home, Terra Alta from noon on Monday, January 6, 2020 until the 2:00 p.m. time of service with Rev. Marshall Woods officiating.
