Obituary of Gerald Franklin Sanders Sr.
Gerald "Jerry" Franklin Sanders, Sr., 83, of Terra Alta, WV, passed away, Saturday, December 28, 2024, at the Garrett Regional Medical Center in Oakland, MD.
He was born December 15, 1941, in Freeport, WV, a son of the late Russell Pearl and Mary Jane (Bowser) Sanders.
Jerry was a loving husband, father, and grandfather. He worked as an electrician in the coal mine. As a coal miner, he provided for his family and his community, enduring the hardships and dangers of the profession with a steady and strong spirit. His work ethic and sense of responsibility were unmatched. Jerry was known for always lending a helping hand to those in need of electrical assistance. He never charged for his services to friends and neighbors. Jerry was a member of the Pine Grove Church of the Brethren. He loved the outdoors, going hunting and fishing but being with family and playing with grandchildren was his greatest joy.
Jerry is survived by his beloved wife of 64 years, Carolyn (Dodge) Sanders; two sons, Frank Sanders, Jr. and wife Liz and Timothy Kevin Sanders and wife Trina; five grandchildren, Seth, Kari, Kelsie, Brooke and Jennifer; seven great grandchildren, Courtney, Shayla, Hunter, Mason, Madison, Hannah, and Audrey; one great great granddaughter, Mea and two brothers, Russell Sanders and his wife Barbara and James Sanders.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, James Lynn Sanders and two brothers, Roy Sanders and Dale Sanders.
The family would like to extend a deeply heartfelt thank you to the nursing staff at Garrett Memorial and the hospice staff for the outstanding and compassionate care they provided to Jerry and his family.

Friends may call at the Arthur H. Wright Funeral Home in Terra Alta on, Thursday, January 2, 2025, from noon until the 2 pm time of service with Pastor Brian Coffman officiating. Interment will follow at the Terra Alta Cemetery.
