Obituary of Richard Allen Gibson
Richard Allen Gibson, 76, of Cranesville, WV, passed away Monday, November 18, 2024, at home with family by his side.
He was born June 16, 1948, in Kingwood, WV, the son of the late Ralph D. Gibson and Emma Jean (Hartsell) Gibson.
Richard graduated from Terra Alta High School in 1966 and attended WVU. He was a member of the Faith Church in Cranesville where he served as the church treasurer, sang in the church choir, taught Sunday School, and a member of the men's group. Richard held various jobs, he worked at Southern States, Clear Mountain Bank, One Valley Bank, Tathams Floral, and Garrett National Bank. His most important job and passion was the farm. Richard tended to dairy and beef cattle, poultry, and flowers that he would sell to local restaurants and shops.
He is survived by his loving wife of 55 years, Linda L. (Livengood) Gibson; children, Shawn Gibson (Julie) of Cranesville, WV, Kelly Taylor of West Milford, WV, Amy Stackpole (David) of Weirton, WV, Kevin Gibson (Brenda) of Cranesville, WV; grandchildren, Connor Gibson, Maylen Gibson, Chase Taylor, Mason Taylor, Addison Taylor, Nicholas Stackpole, Ryan Stackpole, and Tyler Gibson; sister, Pamela Gardner (Bill); niece, Kara McGinnis, and great niece, Siena McGinnis.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Richard's memory to the Aldersgate Evangelical Center, 54 Camp Aldersgate Lane, Terra Alta, WV 26764, and to the Mt. Loggers Group, 458 Old Morgantown Road East, Friendsville, MD 21551. The family chose the Mt. Loggers Group due to the donations that were given to his grandson Tyler for medical expenses.
Friends may call at the Faith Church, 6639 Cranesville Road, Terra Alta, WV 26764, on Wednesday, November 20, 2024, from 4:00 – 8:00 pm and on Thursday, November 21, 2024, from 10:00 am until the 11:00 am time of service with Steve Wise officiating. Interment will follow in the Faith Cemetery.
