Obituary of George Terrance DeLauder
George Terrance “Terry” DeLauder, 73, passed away Friday March 1, 2024, at Preston Memorial Hospital with family by his side.
He was born July 15, 1950, in Morgantown, WV, a son of the late George Andrew and Madonna Marie (Harmon) DeLauder.
Terry graduated from Terra Alta High School in 1968. He obtained an Agricultural degree from Potomac State College. He also attended Fairmont State University where he studied Aviation Sciences. He worked at Sterling Faucet Company and later became a federally certified Airframe & Powerplant Mechanic at Bombardier Aviation. He attended St. Edward’s Catholic Church in Terra Alta. Terry was a lifetime Charter member of the Preston County Knights of Columbus and a lifetime member of the NRA. He enjoyed working on cars, hunting, fishing, and reloading gun shells. Terry especially loved spending time with family.
Terry is survived by his loving wife of 48 years, Brenda (Uphold) DeLauder; three daughters, Shelly Marley and husband, Michael, Julie Osborne, and Lori Jahnke; six grandchildren, Kaitlinne Crosco, Zacharias Crosco, Andrew Jahnke, Bridgette Wolfe and husband, Hunter, Ethan Marley, and Laina Osborne; two great-grandsons, Gunner and Ryder Wolfe; brothers, Thomas DeLauder and wife, Debbie, Patrick DeLauder and wife, Shelia, Christopher DeLauder, Robert DeLauder and wife, Melissa, David DeLauder and wife, Ashley; sisters, Rosemary Sigley, Cathy Strecker, Nancy DeLauder, Angela Burns and husband, John, and many nieces, nephews, and cousins.
In addition to his parents, Terry is preceded in death by a brother, John Andrew “Jack” DeLauder; brother-in-law, Gary Sigley, and sister-in-law, Connie DeLauder.
Friends may call at the Arthur H Wright Funeral Home in Terra Alta, WV, on Tuesday, March 5, 2024, from 2:00-4:00 pm and 6:00-8:00 pm with the scripture of prayer service beginning at 7:30 pm. A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at St. Edward’s Catholic Church at 10:00 am Wednesday, March 6, 2024, with Father Dominic Atishu as celebrant. Interment will follow in the Terra Alta Cemetery.
