Obituary of Patricia Susan Barcus

Patricia Susan Barcus,

70 of Terra Alta, died Tuesday November 7, 2023 at Mon General Hospital, Morgantown with family by her side.

The daughter of the late Mary Katherine Hocking Clough and Frank Charles Clifton, she was born February 26, 1953, in Wilmington, DE.

She attended First United Methodist Church and was a God-fearing woman.

Patricia was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother. She was an operating room registered nurse. She worked at Christiana Care in DE, Union Hospital in Elkton, MD and Garrett Hospital in Oakland. Her greatest accomplishments were being a wife, mother and her nursing career.

She is survived by her husband of 52 years, George W. Barcus; sons Matt Barcus of Terra Alta and Zach Barcus of Corinth; daughters, Katie Barcus and Jenn Volkman both of Terra Alta; brothers, Francis Clifton of FL, Jeff Clifton of Elkton, MD, Steven Clifton of Bear, DE, and James Clough Jr. of Wilmington, DE; sisters, Robin Brittingham of Terra Alta and Julie Schlick of DE; five grandchildren, Skylar Logsdon, Kaylie Sisler, Randy Knotts, Brandon and Brianna Volkman; and one great grandson, Mason Lee Shaffer and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a sister, Kathy Walsh.

Family and friends will be received at the Arthur H. Wright Funeral Home, Terra Alta on Monday from 6-8:00 p.m. The funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Tuesday November 14, 2023 at 11:00 a.m. with Rev. Michael Lantz officiating. Burial will follow in the Terra Alta Cemetery.
