Obituary of Douglas Friend Auvil

Douglas F. Auvil, 88, of Terra Alta, WV, passed away, on Wednesday, September 20, 2023, at Preston Memorial Hospital.

He was born on June 15, 1935, in Baltimore, MD, a son of the late Holmes and Hallie (Friend) Auvil.

Douglas was a loving husband and father. He was a member of the Patapsco Masonic Lodge in Dundalk, MD. He served in the U.S. Army.  He also attended church at the Faith Church in Cranesville, WV.

Douglas is survived by his loving wife of 66 years, Carolyn "Pat" (Croucher) Auvil, and son, Scott D. and wife Linda S. Auvil of Saratoga Springs, NY.

In addition to his parents, he is preceded in death by a son, Timothy Auvil, and brother, Donald Auvil.

To honor Douglas's wishes he will be cremated.

There will be a memorial service at Faith Church Cranesville on Saturday October 14, 2023 with visiting from 2:30 p.m. until the 3:00 p.m time of service.  The elders of the church will officiate, Hugh Dopson, Jay Freeland and Randy Miller.  Military rites will be conducted by the Preston County Honor Guard and the WVANG Honor Guard.  A masonic rites will end the service.
