Obituary of Dorothy Vernice Hauser

Dorothy Vernice Calhoun-Hauser,

90, of Terra Alta, died Tuesday August 8, 2023 at Windy Hill Village, Kingwood.

The daughter of the late Troy William and Rena Yuella James Auvil, she was born March 14, 1933, in Leadmine, Tucker County, WV.

She attended Amboy Methodist Church. Dorothy loved flower gardening and sewing.

She is survived by two daughters and spouses, Connie and Joe Gibson of Terra Alta and Bonnie and Everett Barlow of Howesville; one son and spouse, Donald and Patricia Calhoun of Terra Alta; four grandchildren, Jennifer Gibson, Franklin (Jamie) Schnopp, Adam (Bridgett) Gibson and Andrew (Sara) Calhoun; great grandchildren, Owen, Ava and Ivan Calhoun, Taylor, Autumn and Nate Schnopp; four sisters, Leoda Maloy and Selma (Ralph) Cummings all of Aurora, and Jeckie (Darrell) Boggess of Rainelle, WV; two brothers, Kenneth Auvil of Kingwood and James (Penny) Auvil of Aurora; and a sister-in-law, Patricia Auvil.

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her first husband, Franklin Clair Calhoun; her second husband, Clayton L. Hauser; five brothers, Troy, Huey, Norman, Dorian and Alton Auvil; and a sister, Arvella Smith

Family and friends may call at the Arthur H. Wright Funeral Home, Terra Alta on Friday from 4-8:00 p.m. and from 10:00 a.m. on Saturday August 12, 2023, until the 11:00 a.m. time of service with Pastor Gina Frazee officiating. Burial will follow in the Terra Alta Cemetery.
