Obituary of William Victor Wiles

William "Bill" Victor Wiles, 85, of Aurora (Lantz Ridge), passed away peacefully Saturday, July 29, 2023, at Garrett Regional Medical Center in Oakland, MD, with the presence of family.

The son of the late Franklin "Frank" Mortimer Wiles and Beulah (Dunham) Wiles. Bill was born at home on Lantz Ridge on January 3, 1938.

Bill loved his home on Lantz Ridge. It was where he was born, went to school, worked, found the love of his life, Helen, and raised his six children. Bill loved being Grandpa to everyone. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, being in the woods, reading, and listening to Blue Grass. Bill's favorite past time was telling stories and being surrounded by family and friends. He loved life and making others happy. He was known to many as "Wild Bill" the sweet, generous, big guy in the big black hat.

Bill is survived by one son, Monte D. Wiles and wife Lesa of Aurora; five daughters, Terri Roberson and husband Jeffery of Aurora, Vickie Swearingen and husband J.D., Christina Flanagan and husband Jeffery of Lumberport, WV, Glenda Fisher and husband Charles of Buckhannon, WV, and Billie Jo Wiles of Aurora; He was blessed with 12 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren, Matthew Roberson and wife Natalie, Chad Roberson and wife Jodi (Alexis and Aiden), Laura Waters and husband Joshua (Ava, Layla, and Victor), Lance Swearingen and wife Monica, Melissa Huml and husband Jason (Madison), Rebecca Glotfelty and husband Brock (Jordan, Jaxon, and Braxton), Brianna Wright and husband Justin (Weston, Branson, and Evelyn), Seth Wiles and wife Holly (Kasen and Hunter), Sarah Jenkins and husband Trevor (Levi, Creed, and Lorelai), Rachel Fisher, Emily Fisher, and Mary Fisher.

In addition to his parents, Bill is preceded in death by his loving wife of 55 years, Helen G. (Hershman) Wiles; grandson Nathan Swearingen; one sister, Mary Lou Wotring and her husband Jerry Wotring.

To honor Bill's wishes the Arthur H Wright Funeral Home in Terra Alta will provide cremation services. His family invites you to attend a celebration of life on Saturday, August 5, 2023, at the Amboy United Methodist Church Fellowship Hall, 3088 Aurora Pike, Auroa, WV 26705, between the hours of 1:00 pm and 4:00 pm. The family will have food and fellowship. For anyone wishing to stay, there will be a short service reflecting on Bill's life at 4:00 pm. Bill will be laid to rest next to his wife at the Belleview Cemetery on Lantz Ridge Road, Aurora.

Flowers can be delivered during office hours to the Arthur H Wright Funeral Home, 105 Highland Ave, Terra Alta, WV 26764, on Friday, August 4, 2023. Charitable donations can be made in tribute of Bill’s life to Hospice of Garrett County.
