Marjorie M. Hoke Meese Loudermilk
Marjorie (Margie) Loudermilk of Terra Alta, WV, was warmly welcomed into the loving arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on February 6, 2023.
Margie was born in Second Creek, WV, the natural daughter of the late Weber Hattie Sturdivant and Wilbur Brown Hoke on June 29, 1933. Subsequent to her parents' early passing, Margie was adopted as an adult by the late H. Wade Meese of Oakland, MD, formerly of Terra Alta. Margie was a graduate of Lewisburg High School, class of 1951, where she met and married her sweetheart, Donald Loudermilk, on January 11, 1953. They relocated to FL in 1954 where she kept very busy raising their four girls and was a dedicated and loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
Margie was very active in her community and church in FL. Among her accomplishments, she was nominated for the 'Woman of the Year' award by her Civic Association, member of the school PTA and volunteer, and a leader of Brownies/ Girl Scout organization. She had a creative flair for baking and decorating wedding cakes, she designed and sewed dance costumes, and was a very talented oil on canvas artist. On her return to WV in 1988, she assisted in the construction and transformation of the tiny house on the Red Gate Farm in Terra Alta into a warm home filled with devotion to Christ, boundless love and laughter, family and friends and countless games of Scrabble. She became a member of the Terra Alta First United Methodist Church, its UMW, helping lead the rummage sales, and is recognized for painting the beautiful perpetual garden on the walls of the basement Fellowship Hall. Margie leaves a legacy of joy and love felt by all that had the pleasure of knowing her.
Margie is survived by her husband of 70 years, Donald Loudermilk; four children, Cathy Ann Pike and husband, Robert, of Cantonment, FL; Cindy Lee Karson and her husband, Lawrence (Larry) of Houston, TX; Kendra Sue Murphy of Machesney Park, IL; and Lori Kay Garcia and her husband, Luciano (Lucky) of Hialeah Gardens, FL, ten grandchildren, nine great grandchildren, and brother Golden (Pete) Hoke of Baltimore, MD.
She was preceded in death by her brother Gordon Hoke of Baltimore, MD; and son-in-law Paul Murphy of Machesney Park, IL.
Family and friends will be received at the First United Methodist Church, Terra Alta from 10:00 a.m. on Friday February 10, 2023, until the 11:00 a.m. time of service with Rev. Eric Beeman officiating. Burial will follow in the Terra Alta Cemetery.
