Obituary of Charlotte Ann Metheny

Charlotte Ann "Sherry" Metheny,

70 of Terra Alta, died Tuesday October 25, 2022, at home surrounded by her family.

The daughter of the late Isaac Richard and Agnes Ann Hajny Peters, and her foster parents, Sue and Walt Kisner, she was born June 6, 1952, in Newburg.

She was a loving wife, mother, and grandmother. Sherry loved to garden, bake and preserve their harvest through canning.

She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Kerry Metheny; two sons, Danny Metheny of Ravenswood and Michael Metheny of Terra Alta; a daughter, Peggy Metheny of Terra Alta; her twin sister, Jeri Dixon of Terra Alta; three half-brothers, Jerry Hayny of Kingwood, Gary Hajny of Bruceton Mills and Dan Peters of Alabama; three half-sisters, Rosemary Riggleman of Terra Alta, Mary Jane Moats of Howesville and Josephine Sypolt of Aurora; seven grandchildren, Gauge and Ava Metheny, Heather Layton and Matthew (Melanie) Layton, Mikayla, Caitlyn and Bryson Metheny; one great grandson, Koen Helms; and several foster siblings.

Family and friends will be received at the Arthur H. Wright Funeral Home, Terra Alta from 1:00 p.m. on Sunday October 30, 2022, until the 3:00 p.m. time of service with Pastor Donnie Savage officiating.
