Obituary of Vava Jane Shaffer

Vava Jane (Bowman) Shaffer, 63, of Terra Alta passed away on Thursday, December 9, 2021, at Garrett Regional Medical Center in Oakland, MD.

She was born on January 6, 1958, in Oakland, MD, a daughter of the late Luther and Lorene (Glotfelty) Bowman.

Vava was a 1977 graduate of Southern High School. She was employed for many years at TDEC and most recently at Wal-Mart. Vava had many friends and was dearly loved by all who knew her.

Vava is survived by her husband, Darrell Shaffer of Terra Alta; one sister, Becky Cosner and husband Rick of Oakland; two brothers-in-law, Mike Shaffer and wife Vickie of Terra Alta and James Slawter of Aurora; one niece; three nephews; three great nieces and three great nephews.  

In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by one sister-in-law, Deloris Shaffer Slawter.

Friends may call at the Arthur H. Wright Funeral Home in Terra Alta on Saturday, December 18, 2021, from noon until the 2 pm memorial service time with Pastor Ted Bessey officiating. Inurnment will be in the Aurora cemetery.

Due to COVID-19, safety precautions will be taken, the social distancing 6-foot rule will be honored and all guests, whose health allows, are to wear a mask. For the safety of everyone, we politely ask that visitors do not linger at the funeral home after seeing the Shaffer family.
