Obituary of Jesse Simnar Metheny Jr.

Jesse Simnar Metheny Jr., 82, of Terra Alta, passed away Friday March 3, 2017 at the Mapleshire Rehabilitation Center in Morgantown after a hard fought battle with a brief illness. He was born August 29, 1934 in Terra Alta, a son of the late Jesse S. Metheny Sr. and Delphia King Metheny. Jesse was generous man who loved to talk and never met a stranger. He was devoted to his family and was extremely proud of them. He loved the great outdoors and "real" country music and westerns. While he was in Ohio he worked at the Match and then spent many years in roofing before returning home to work his father's farm. He later retired from the Hopemont Dairy Farm. He is survived by one son, Jesse Metheny III and wife Trudi of Windsor, PA; two daughters and spouses, Dianna Schauwecker and husband Gary of Rittman, OH and Debra Jarvis and husband Fredrick of Morgantown; six grandchildren, Todd and Chad Schauwecker, Robert Tasker, Paige Jarvis, Brooke Staeheli and Brayden Metheny; 11 great grandchildren and one great great granddaughter; one sister, Betty Richards of PA; two brothers, Robert Metheny and wife Marie of Terra Alta and Samuel Metheny and wife Dortha of OH and many special nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife of 62 years, Doris Rose Anderson Metheny, one daughter, Donna Tasker and eight brothers. Friends may call at the Arthur H. Wright Funeral Home in Terra Alta on Tuesday March 7, 2017 from 10 a.m. until the 12 noon service with Pastor Ron Funk and Rev. Larry Anderson officiating. Burial will follow in the Oak Grove Cemetery. The family would like to extend a special thank you to the Ruby CCU and Ruby Dialysis Nursing Staff.
